Smart Panels

Kengo Kuma Branch & Shadow

Nature and technology, in one panel.

Branch and Shadow is architect Kengo Kuma's meditation on the switch panel: real wood grain and the dappled play of light through leaves, brought to a control surface. Warm, tactile and quiet, it lets cutting-edge automation sit as gently in a room as a piece of joinery.

  • Genuine wood facing
  • Human-centred, low-glare interface
  • Whole-home scene control

The idea

The warmth of wood, the intelligence of the cloud

Kuma's architecture is famous for dissolving the hard boundary between building and nature. The Branch and Shadow panel does the same for technology: its timber face and layered shadow motif make the smartest object in the room feel like the most natural.
